Citi now allows cardholders in Asia to use rewards points when shopping at Amazon
The offer is available for cardholders in Thailand, and soon in Singapore, Philippines, and Australia.
Citi announced that Citi customers can now use rewards points for purchases at Amazon.com. Citi already offers a capability in India via Amazon’s local country site when checking out to use points to redeem Amazon Gift Cards. The collaboration also offers Citi card holders rebates and free shipping in a number of consumer markets across Asia Pacific.
Starting in February, Citi credit card holders in Thailand who shop at Amazon.com will be able to use their Citi Thank You Rewards, Citi’s global credit card rewards programme, to pay for purchases at checkout. Singapore, Philippines and Australia will follow in the first half of 2017 with the plan to roll out the Shop with Points programme across Asia during 2017.
“At Citi we are focused on making banking easier for our customers by leveraging digitization, mobile technology and innovation which includes delivering a remarkable client experience in key digital ecosystems. We have seen that the rapid adoption of mobile and other digital channels has truly transformed how people shop and we are delighted that Citi cardholders in Asia Pacific can now shop with points on Amazon,” said Anand Selva, Head of Asia Pacific Consumer Banking for Citi.
With this new offering, Citi credit card customers can enjoy complimentary shipping on qualified purchases and get an additional 10% rebate up to certain amounts across a number of markets with a minimum spend. Rebates and qualified free shipping will be offered across Philippines, Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong at various promotion periods within first quarter of 2017.
