Bendigo, Suncorp plan on sharing ATM networks
Connection of about 1600 ATMs of two banks could be accomplished by March 2010.
Both the Suncorp Metway and Bendigo and Adelaide Bank have agreed to link their automatic teller machines in a shared network.
A media release said that the banks' combined ATMs, totaling around 1600, could be linked by March 2010, as stated in a report in The Sheet.
Since March 2009, the industry rules applying to direct charging at ATM networks cater to the formation of such networks.
Many Australian small banks have arrangements with one or other of the big banks. National Australia Bank, meanwhile, is linked to the rediTeller network that renders service to many credit unions and building societies.
