ICBC strengthens anti-phishing capability
ICBC launched a new "anti-phishing" control to enhance customers' anti-fraud capacity and guarantee information security of Internet Banking. This new security control is able to directly detect whether the websites customers visit are safe, hence enabling customers, even those who are in lack of knowledge about Internet security, to judge the authenticity of the visited website in an easy and convenient way. Therefore, it is an effective tool for customers to recognise and prevent phishing sites.
According to experts of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China E-banking, currently the frequent appearance of phishing sites has emerged as a global concern and difficulty that has impeded the healthy development of Internet financial services and e-commerce. Moreover, it has also endangered public interest and reduced people's confidence in Internet Banking.
In order to snipe Internet phishing rapidly and effectively, ICBC launches the new "anti-phishing" security control to assist customers in analysing website information through the site blacklist and whitelist provided by ICBC for preventing phishing sites. In detail, after customers install the "anti-phishing" security control, it will automatically inspect the website addresses customers input in the address bar upon opening the IE browser. The control will send out alerts so that customers can easily recognise and avoid the phishing sites contained in the blacklist, thus efficiently preventing them from the fraud and attack of phishing sites.
