ABN AMRO unveils branch in Sydney
Peter Davis will lead the Dutch lender's operations in Australia.
Dutch bank ABN AMRO has opened a branch in Sydney after receiving approval for a banking licence from the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) in October 2018.
ABN AMRO previously operated a representative office in Sydney before transferring to a branch to serve its clients across global sectors.
“ABN AMRO’s clients already do business in Australia with four out of five of its largest trading partners located within the region accounting for almost half of its total exports. With the Sydney branch, ABN AMRO offers these clients on-the-ground expertise and services supported by access to a global sector bank,” Rutger van Nouhuijs, CEO Corporate & Institutional Banking at ABN AMRO, said in a statement.
Peter Davis will serve as country executive for the bank’s Australia operations.
