Bangkok Bank increases ATM readiness at public transport stations
Bangkok Bank increased maintenance of its ATMs at public transport stations, including the BTS and MRT.
This is due to more people using public transport during the floods. Bangkok Bank Executive Vice President Thaweelap Rittapirom said more people have been travelling on public transport, including the BTS and MRT, during the floods.
Bangkok Bank ATMs are located at BTS and MRT stations, often with several ATMs positioned to help serve bank customers and the general public.
“To cope with greater use of public transport, the bank is taking care of ATMs in main public transport areas, including government agency offices, shopping malls and hypermarkets, to ensure all ATMs are operating at peak performance. The bank has also added additional layers of ATM maintenance from previous plans to ensure customers are able to withdraw cash for their daily shopping or reserve cash for emergency purposes,” said Mr. Thaweelap.
Mr. Thaweelap added that Bangkok Bank, as a member of the Thai Bankers’ Association, agreed to waive fees for cash withdrawals from ATMs, including all inter-bank and inter-region withdrawals, until November 30, 2011. The bank realizes the difficulties faced by customers affected by the ongoing floods, particularly those evacuating temporarily to safe areas outside their home provinces. Bangkok Bank customers can also withdraw cash from other banks’ ATMs without paying fees – another measure to help flood victims.
