Bank Mandiri and BCA start ATM interconnection

Mandiri’s alliance with Prima made the interconnection possible.

Bank Mandiri and Bank Central Asia, two of Indonesia’s largest lenders, are expected to have their automatic teller machine system interconnection up and running Monday..

“On Monday, the inauguration will be held at Bank Indonesia at 10 a.m.,” Jahja Setiaatmadja, the BCA president director, told the Jakarta Globe in a short text message on Saturday.

Mandiri signed an agreement in October with ATM service provider Rintis Sejahtera, which works with BCA and other banks. The signing made Mandiri the 49th member of Rintis’s ATM Prima network. There are 120 commercial banks in Indonesia.

There are 22,000 ATMs in the Prima network, including BCA’s network of 7,000 machines. Mandiri has nearly 9,000 ATMs.

“Mandiri will join Prima, and therefore starting on Monday, it will be connected to our ATMs,” Jahja said.

The arrangement will allow customers of both banks to access ATMs in the network, enabling them to make cash withdrawals and transfers to other banks and deposit checks.
