Indonesia's Bank Mandiri to sell airline tickets
Bank Mandiri will sell AirAsia airline tickets through its credit cards.
Indonesia’s largest lender by asset has established a cooperation with Think Big Digital, a Malaysia-based digital marketing agency, for the transactions.
Think Big Digital is owned Malaysian low-cost carrier AirAsia and Tune Money, also an affiliate of AirAsia.
Handayani, senior vice president for consumer cards at Bank Mandiri, said that they are targeting the transaction by value of AirAsia tickets by its customers to triple from the current figure. Mandiri credit-card users are spending Rp 9 billion or $939,000 per month to buy AirAsia tickets.
“With this cooperation we are hoping the figure would triple ... AirAsia is a popular low-cost carrier,” said Handayani.
“All Mandiri credit cards, the silver, gold and platinum, can be used to buy AirAsia ticket,” Handayani said.
Mandiri is also in talks with AirAsia to issue co-branding credit cards.
