2018 Retail Banking Forum concludes 4-city road show in Bangkok
More than 90 delegates from Thailand's major banks graced the event.
Asian Banking & Finance successfully held the last leg of its 4-city Retail Banking Forum 2018 road show with a jam-packed event at the Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok Hotel on May 31 with more than 90 delegates.
Mohit Mehrotra, partner, co-leader at Monitor Deloitte, began with a presentation on the big shifts in technology and customer behavior and their associated implications on ASEAN financial services ecosystems.
He was followed by Yuenyong Ken Songsiridej, EVP, head of branch operations excellence & transformation at TMB Bank, to talk about the customer journey and the changes in branch banking. After him, Sambit Pattayanak, Applied Predictive Technologies (APT) vice president client services at MasterCard, discussed how financial instituitions can use data for profitable innovation.
Songsiridej and Pattayanak then sat on a panel with Arapat Sangkharat, EVP of KTB internal digitization at KrungThai Bank, discussing further the bank branch design and the customer journey.
The presentations and panel discussion following the networking break were about digitalisation and fintechs.
Avishek Nandy, principal at Bain & Company, presented an insightful thought leader session on the future of retail banking where there is complex changing realities with implications for banks. Following Nandy, Sam Tanskul, managing director Krungsri Finnovate, head innovation Krungsri consumer at Krungsri, talked about global fintech innovation.
Eiichiro Yanagawa, senior analyst at Celent, then discussed initiatives and challenges regarding open API in Japan, whilst Jigar Bhansali, VP, Solution Architecture at Software AG APJ, tackled how API can revolutionise retail banking.
Martijn van Keulen, EVP, head of digital channels & UX at TMB Bank, joined Yanagawa and Bhansali on a panel to close with an engaging panel discussion on digital transformation in banks.
