Thai, Japanese banks collaborate for SMEs

Thailand's TMB Bank and Japan's Okazaki Shinkin Bank have joined hands have adjusted their service standards for greater connection to facilitate Thai and Japanese SMEs.

The banks were targeting SME clients in the automotive industry, trade and financial services.

Okazaki Shinkin Bank is based in Aichi Prefecture, the centre of Japanese automotive industry which locates many manufacturers including Toyota Motor Corporation.

"We see the growing opportunity, thanks to the government’s first-car policy which should help push this year’s vehicle sale target to 1.2 million units or a 51 per cent increase from last year. Japanese small and medium-sized suppliers would demonstrate huge growth," said Piti Tantakasem, TMB CEO for business clients.

TMB also plans to further extend its network in Japan, to support economic expansion in Asean. It has set up a business unit to facilitate Japanese investors. Last year, TMB also signed a cooperation pact with Towa Bank.
