Joyce Phillips joins ANZ
ANZ appointed Joyce Phillips as Group Managing Director Strategy, M&A, Marketing and Innovation and will be part of ANZ’s Management Board.
She will start with ANZ in August and will report to Alex Thursby, CEO Asia Pacific, Europe and America.
"Joyce’s appointment is a significant new addition to our Management Board. She has an outstanding track record in international banking particularly in retail banking and marketing in Asia and a strong background in mergers and acquisitions at GE Capital," said Thursby.
"Her leadership will play an important part of shaping and delivering our super regional strategy. I’m delighted we have been able to attract someone of Joyce’s calibre to ANZ," he added.
Ms Phillips was previously President and Chief Operating Officer at American Life Insurance Company. Prior to joining American Life Insurance in 2007, Ms Phillips was with Citigroup where she was Head of International Retail Banking responsible for Citigroup’s global retail banking franchise in 42 countries. Her other roles with Citigroup include Country Business Manager, Citibank Global Consumer in Japan and Chief Executive Officer of Citicorp Diners Club in Japan.
Ms Phillips joined Citigroup in 1999 from GE Capital where she held various management positions in the Global Consumer Finance Division. She has a MBA from the Stern School of Business and is fluent in Japanese.
