BofAML appoints Es Venkat as head of Asia Pacific payments and receivables

According to a statement, the new leadership team in Treasury Product Management adds significant structure, foundation and functional specialization, ever so important as the bank continues to grow and build scale. 

Es Venkat joins Bank of America Merrill Lynch as the head of Asia Pacific Payments and Receivables, replacing Maria Mandler who moved to the Global Receivables product team in Chicago last year. Venkat joins us from the Samba Financial Group in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and has 28 years of experience in Corporate and Consumer Banking, spanning Asia, North America, the Middle East and Africa.

Prior to Samba, Venkat held senior treasury management positions with Citibank in Mumbai, the United Arab Emirates and New York where he was Global Payments product manager. Venkat is based in Hong Kong and reports to Faisal Ameen, head of Treasury Management, Asia Pacific, Ather Williams, head of Global Payments and Rodney Gardner, head of Global Receivables.

Amit Sharma is appointed head of Asia Pacific eCommerce and Channels. In this new role, Amit will partner closely with the global channels team to drive the execution of a channels and eCommerce strategy around fast evolving client requirements. Amit has 15 years experience in Technology and Banking and joined the firm in 2010 as head of Treasury Product Solutioning for Asia Pacific, focused on client centric integration capabilities.

Reporting to Amit will be Param Thind, responsible for online channels, George King responsible for file channels, Vaira Ramanathan responsible for client integrations and transformation engines, and Rajiv Balchandani, responsible for integrations and eBAM. Amit is based in Singapore and report to Faisal Ameen and Cindy Murray, global head of Channels.

Janet Leung is appointed head of Asia Pacific Product Development. In her new role, Janet will partner closely together with the global product development team under Doug McKinley to drive the execution of product development initiatives in Asia Pacific as we execute on our product roadmap to become the best-in-class and a clearly differentiated partner to all our clients in the region.

Janet joined the firm in 1986 and in her last role was the senior Payables Product manager in Asia Pacific, prior to which she was responsible for change management and platform management. Janet will be based in Hong Kong and report to Faisal Ameen and Doug McKinley, global head of Product Development.

Paul Zanker is appointed head of Asia Pacific GBS Product Solutioning. In his new role, Paul is responsible for SSC advisory, client process reengineering and thought leadership in treasury solutioning. Rajesh Kumar and Winnie Lee will report to Paul.

Paul brings 18 years of experience in consulting and banking to his role, having joined the firm in 2010 as a Global Business Solutions consultant, prior to which he was the head of SSC consulting at PWC, based out of Singapore. Paul will continue to report to Tony O’Neill, head of Strategic Solution Delivery for the region.

Andrew Ong continues as head of Asia Pacific Liquidity Management and Solutioning reporting to Faisal Ameen and Greg Kavanaugh, global head of Liquidity Management and Investments.

Jason Tiede continues as head of Asia Pacific Cards and Emerging Payments reporting to Faisal Ameen and Kevin Phalen, global head of Card and Comprehensive Payables.
