Krirk-kiat, key figure in '97 financial crisis, dies at 63
Krirk-Kiat Jalichandra, the former president of defunct Bangkok Bank of Commerce had suffered from lung cancer for years, has died.
He was 63.
Since 2010, he had appeared in courts, to fight a series of embezzlement charges, in fragile physical condition.
Krirk-kiat had to fight a number of embezzlement charges due to the collapse of BBC and had been sentenced to a total of over 100 years of imprisonment for several counts.
Krirk-kiat and Pin Chakkapak, former president of Finance One, were deemed as key people behind the money game, which led to the 1997 financial crisis. Unlike Krirk-kiat, Pin was never tried in any case. After years in London, he reportedly returned to Thailand earlier this year following the statutory limit of charges against him.
His funeral service will take place at Wat That Thong for 7 days.
